Who has the "Best Cheeseburger in Paradise" in 2008? It was determined that Bob Hendricis team "The Flame Surfers" took the show at the third annual Best Cheeseburger in Paradise Cook-off on Saturday, August 9th, with the "Tropical Keys" Cheeseburger. they pleased the judges' taste-buds to capture the $1,000 burger award. The Flame Surfers gave back a portion of their winnings towards the Food Bank. Dan Puckett and the Ski Rack won the "Best Of Show" award for the best visual appearance on their booth. This year, the "Best Cheeseburger in Paradise" Cook-off was held on Saturday at Forest Hills Lanes. With sunshine and beautiful summer weather, everyone enjoyed music from The Stevee Nix Band. The "Best Margarita in Paradise", sponsored by Sauza Tequila had 8 teams this year. The winner of the $500 prize which was awarded by a panel of judges were the Shooters North team - The North of Disorder and their "Coconut Keys Concoction" margarita. The public was able to vote for the "people's choice" award and it went out to Diane Govig's team - NeighborBrew with their "A Sly Fox" margarita. Not-Cho-Mamma's "Liquid Gold" margarita won Best of Show for margaritas.
The 3rd Annual Best Cheeseburger in Paradise Cook-Off, a Caribbean-themed fundraising event, benefited the Northern Illinois Food Bank and the hungry neighbors it serves.
